Associate Professor Julie Brimblecombe

A/Prof Brimblecombe (BSc, Grad Dip Nut & Diet, MPH, PhD) is a Principal Research Fellow and Nutrition Program Head at Menzies School of Health Research. She is the recipient of a Future Leader Fellowship from the National Heart Foundation of Australia. She has expertise in food systems research with Indigenous communities, in the conduct of real-world population health interventions and in the use of store sales data to measure population level diet. Her research aims to build the evidence base for policy regarding the equitable improvement of nutrition in remote Indigenous Australia to prevent diet-related preventable chronic disease. A/Prof Brimblecombe led a RCT recently published in the Lancet Public Health that is one of four high quality experimental studies in the world to provide evidence useful to policy makers in considering the types of structural interventions that are needed to create healthier food environments for affluent and disadvantaged communities alike.
