Roche Best Novice Oral Presentation Award

RocheLogoAwards The Roche Best Novice Oral Presentation Award to is to the value of AUD$1,000. Applicants must be a financial member of the ADEA for at least twelve months at the time of application.

Eligibility: This category is granted to ADEA members who are presenting for the first time at the ADS-ADEA ASM.

NB: The Award Winner is required to provide their presentation slides to the conference organiser at the conclusion of the conference. The slides will be uploaded to the conference website.

ADEA - Roche Travel Grant

This year, ADEA will provide five (5) travel grants of $1,000 to five (5) members to attend the ADS-ADEA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Perth from 30 August to 1 September 2017.

The grant represents a career development opportunity. Credentialled Diabetes Educators or those who are working towards becoming a CDE will be able to claim CPD points for attending the ASM.

This travel grant program is financially supported by Roche Diabetes.

Conditions of funding

  • An amount of $1,000 will be available to those members living/working in a regional, rural or remote part of Australia to contribute to their travel expenses to attend the ASM.
  • The grant is to be used only to contribute to your registration to the ADS-ADEA Annual Scientific Meeting, economy airfares, ground transport, tickets to networking events and accommodation.
  • Applicants need to identify if they have received a grant from any other body to attend the 2017 ASM or a meeting in association with the ASM.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be a financial member of the ADEA for at least twelve months at the time of application.
  2. Applicants must be located in rural/remote Australia. ADEA members who are residing in categories ranging between RA2 to RA5 are eligible. To check the category of your Remoteness Area, please visit the Department of Health website.
  3. Applicants must not have received a travel grant from the ADEA to attend ADEA conferences, i.e. ASM or branch conferences, in the previous two years.
  4. Evidence of active participation in the ASM, if any, i.e. submitted abstracts to the ASM or participation in ADEA committees or special interest groups, will support your application (Optional)

Application Process

Applicants should complete and submit the application form via SurveyMonkey by 9am 22 May 2017*. All completed applications will be acknowledged and treated as confidential.

Following attendance of the ASM, the grant recipients must provide ADEA with a 200 word reflective article that outlines the benefits of attending the ASM for their current practice in diabetes education by 9am Monday 18 September 2017. Reflective articles must include the acknowledgement 'Supported by the Roche Travel Grant 2017'. ADEA has the option of publishing the article in the Australian Diabetes Educator.

Selection criteria

The applicant must demonstrate the following:

  1. Difficulty attending the ASM without receiving the travel grant
  2. Benefits of attending the ASM for their current practice in diabetes education
  3. Active participation in the ASM by presenting a paper or poster; chairing a session etc. (Optional)

Selection process

A review committee comprised of three ADEA members will review all applications against the eligibility and selection criteria. The committee will forward their recommendations to the CEO who will endorse the successful applicants.

Important dates

  • 9am Monday 22 May 2017*: Applications close. Please (1) complete the application form and (2) forward your supporting documents to applications@adea.com.au with the subject line ‘Full name, Roche Travel Grant’. Applications received after this time will not be reviewed.
  • COB Tuesday 23 May 2017: acknowledgement email from the Grant Travel Management Team to all submitted applicants.
  • COB Friday 23 June 2017: results released, all applicants will be notified.
  • 9am Monday 18 September 2017: Submission of reflective article by grant recipients.

How do I apply for the ADEA Travel Grant?

Follow the instructions above and complete and submit the application form on SurveyMonkey.

Please note that you have to click the 'Submit' button at the end of the application forms for your applications to be reviewed. I you don't click on the 'Submit' button this means your application forms are not received and you will not receive any communication from the Grant Management Team.

What supporting documents are required?

You need to provide a letter of approval from your workplace to attend the conference. If you actively participate in the ASM, please attach relevant evidence, i.e. confirmation of abstract being submitted, invitation to meetings of ADEA committees or special interest groups.

If you have registered for the conference, please provide a copy of the registration and any receipts for accommodation deposit. Please send the supporting documents to applications@adea.com.au with your full name and the name of the grant in the subject line. e.g. ' Full name, Roche Travel Grant' by 9am Monday 22 May 2017*.

What happens after my application is submitted?


After submitting your application, please attach all supporting documents to an email and send applications to
applications@adea.com.au with the subject line 'Full name, Roche Travel Grant' by 9am Monday 22 May 2017*.

The Grant Management Team will send you an email by COB Tuesday 23 May 2017 to confirm that your application has been lodged successfully.

The Grant Management Team will contact all applicants by COB Friday 23 June 2017 with the outcomes of your application.
